Obituary For Arlene Christine (Rothfus) Greiner

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bouton, IA. Burial will be in Peoples Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Murdock Funeral Home. Arlene passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Perry Lutheran Homes Kings Garden at the age of 80. Arlene Christine Rothfus was born November 07, 1940 in Perry, IA the daughter of Edward Walter and Hulda (Wulff) Rothfus. She graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1959. She furthered her education by attending La Salle Extension University for Interior Decoration. She owned and operated Bouton Upholstery for many years and was considered one of the best around in her trade. Arlene was a life - long resident of the Bouton area and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was baptized on December 1, 1940 and confirmed in the church on December 6, 1953. She did many jobs around the church, taught Sunday School and was President of the Church Council. In years past, Arlene was a Bouton City Council member and also held the office of Mayor. Arlene is survived by her son, Stacey Greiner of Urbandale, IA; two brothers James (Phyllis) Rothfus of Perry, IA, Lester (Luz) Rothfus of Kissimmee,FL; two sisters Helen (Robert) Hemphill of Redfield, IA, Susan Whitney of Eldridge, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Arlene in death were her parents; one brother, Larry and his wife Delores; sister-in-law Judy (Leaming) Rothfus; brother-in-law Bradford Whitney; and a niece, Suzanne Loynachan. Memorials in Arlene’s name and condolences to the family may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home.

    I am so sorry for your loss. She was the sweetest step mom I could have ever had. I loved her so very much & will never forget the time she spent teaching me to sew and bake her wonderful cookies & sour kraut cake. She was a wonderful lady.
