Obituary For Billie Dale Hargens

Billie Dale Hargens, 83, Perry, Iowa

Funeral services for Billie Hargens, 83, of Perry, IA will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Murdock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Billie passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center. Memorials to the family in Billie’s name may be left or sent to Murdock Funeral Home.

Billie Dale Hargens was born May 10, 1936 in Manning, Iowa the son of Christian Paul and Anna (Wiese) Hargens. He attended school in Manning and married Marlene Otto on November 11, 1955 and later divorced. They were the parents of two daughters Bobbi Jo and Sonya. He enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and was Honorably Discharged in 1960. Billie lived in Perry and worked for Oscar Mayer until his retirement. He married Mimi Fagen, Joyce Walker and Lou Fredericksen and they all preceded him in death.

Billie was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He loved to go fishing, bowling, golfing, motorcycle riding, playing cards, camping and many hours were spent playing slow pitch.

Survivors include two daughters Bobbi Hargens of Mitchellville, IA and Sonya (Addison) Bacon of Des Moines, IA; two step-daughters Tammy (Christian) Elliott of Perry, IA and Bobbie Seifert of Des Moines. Eight grandchildren Christian, Clark, Shandi, Zeb, Caleb, TJ, Crystal, Amanda and six great- grandchildren Shane, Caelix, Cobie, Haylee, Aubree and Kinlee. Preceding Billie in death were his parents, four wives, five brothers, five sisters, and two son-in-laws David Sutter and Tim Waterbury.

    We are sorry to hear about Billie. We have fond memories from lake German with Bill and Lois. It was never boring with Billie there. He was always so upbeat and had a good time. We are sorry we cannot attend the funeral. We are thinking of you all.
