Visitation for Dave Modlin, 67, Bouton, IA will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home. Dave passed away December 21, 2022 at his home after a brief illness.

Dave Modlin was born August 2, 1955, in Perry, Iowa, the son of Lester Keith “Buck” and Lois A. (Peters) Modlin. He graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1973. On March 15, 1975, David married Susan Graney at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry.

Dave worked as an operations manager for Xenia Rural Water District for the past 35 years. In the spring and fall, he loved helping in the field with planting and harvest. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandsons.

Dave is survived by his son, Andrew (Lila) Modlin of Bouton, IA; daughter, Abbey Modlin (John Logan McManus) of West Des Moines, IA; grandsons, Rylan and Layne Modlin of Bouton, IA; sister, Jane (Randy) Knudtson of West Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law, Jerry (Shirley) Fouch of the United Kingdom; sister-in-law, Karen (Dale) Berkland of Winterset, IA; special friend, Rhonda Shoafstall of Bouton, IA; and his dog, Tipper.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan on July 13, 2011; and sister, Karen Fouch.

Memorials may be left to Dave’s family for Rylan and Layne’s college fund and sent to Murdock Funeral Home in Perry, IA. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net.
