Obituary For Dixie Lee Sheets

Dixie Lee passed away peacefully at her home in Johnston, IA. She is much loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter Racheale and son-in-law George Eichhorn, her sister Pam Tellman, niece Barbara Garrett (Dre) and nephew Tim Garrett (Elsa).

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Raymond, parents George and Faye McLellan, and two brothers-in law Stephen S. Garrett and Robert Tellman.

Dixie Lee spent many years doing what she loved most. She was a Graduate and Master of the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. She had her own dance school in Perry. She taught for many years the children from Perry, Adel, Yale, Bouton, Granger, Woodward, Bayard, Minburn and Jamaica with dance recitals at the Perry Junior High School each Spring.

She had a passion for Miniature Schnauzers – Tigger, Gideon, Gracie, Oscar, Tobias, Faddle and Otis. All knew what it meant to be loved by “Perry Mama”. She was always so kind and gentle with them and each one was always spoiled rotten.

Some of her favorite memories are from her Grandfather Leo Walker’s farm in Jamaica where he farmed with two pair of belgian draft horses. Her memories of farm life were so rich and wonderful, she had a print by Cynthia Baldauf of a belgian horse team hanging over her piano.

Her twinkling brown eyes and gorgeous smile are now gone but not forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at Murdock Funeral home on March 14,2024 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim Phillips, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church presiding. Interment will follow the service at Violet Hill Cemetary.

Condolences

I just learned of Dixie's passing and am so sorry for your loss. I was one of the first dance students of Dixie and loved her and her method of teaching. She really pushed me to advance with harder and harder routines. I also assisted for 2 years until graduating. My 1st daughter also took lessons for a year until our moving from Perry. I have never forgotten my experiences with Dixie and loved thinking or them and her. May she rest in peace. I send condolences and prayers to her family.

Dixie was my dance instructor for many years as a child. Loved her and loved learning from her. I hope your family finds comfort in so many who cherished her as a teacher and dance instructor. Kae Huff
