Obituary For Glen James Corrigan

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Glen Corrigan, 92, of Perry, IA. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Murdock Funeral Home. A Scripture Rosary Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. following the visitation. Glen passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Perry Lutheran Homes Kings Garden. Glen James Corrigan was born April 13, 1929, the son of Ray and Nell (McCall) Corrigan, and died September 23, 2021. Glen was born on a small farm south of Guthrie Center, Iowa. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1947 and enlisted in the Navy where he was stationed on the Air Craft Carrier “Rendova”. Glen married Dorothy M. Abbott 70 years ago at St. Augustin Church in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in Perry in 1955. After the Navy, Glen worked several jobs before he found his calling with “Ma Bell” as a Combination Tech. He worked for Northwestern Bell and AT&T for 34 years before retiring in 1984. After retirement, he spent 24 years working with Bill Boorn doing taxes. Glen’s memberships included the Telephone Pioneers, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, and Perry Golf and Country Club. Glen had a great sense of humor, and liked to nickname people. He loved to travel, whether by camper or airplane, seeing many wonderful places. Glen also liked to go fishing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Glen is preceded in death by his parents; one son, David on October 22, 2003; and 11 brothers and sisters. Glen is survived by his wife Dorothy Corrigan of Perry, IA; one daughter, Penny Corrigan of Perry, IA; three grandchildren and one sister.
