Obituary For Kathleen Andrews

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27,2024 for Kathleen Andrews at St Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation is set from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 26,2024 at Murdock Funeral Home. Kathleen passed away Sunday, January 21,2024 at Perry Lutheran Home Eden Acres.

D. Kathleen Andrews was born on August 1,1925 in rural Redfield, IA., the daughter of Gilman J. and Dorothy D. (Hammond) Turner. She graduated from Linden High School with the class of 1942. After graduation she worked a year in Adel and then enrolled at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA to get her teaching certificate. Kathleen taught for one year at Washington Township School.

Kathleen married J. Howard Andrews on February 11,1947 at St Patrick Catholic Church. They lived together on the family farm west of Washington Township School for 64 years until Howard’s death on July 17,2011. Kathleen remained on the farm until she moved to Eden Acres in 2019.

Kathleen enjoyed keeping up with current events through the newspaper, reading books and watching sports of all kinds on television. Kathleen passed away Sunday, January 21,2024 at Perry Lutheran Home Eden Acres.

Survivors include her sons, John (Susan) Andrews of Perry, IA, David (Kim Heiland) of Perry, IA; daughters, Diana (Tim) Shehan of Boone, IA, Susan (Mike) Pendegraft of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Dottie Hill of Redfield, IA; six grandchildren, Trent (Jenn) Andrews, Lindsay (Brad) Waldron, Tony (Crystal) Andrews, Anne (Clint) Jenkins, Jeff Shehan, Abby (Alan) Juhl and thirteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Kathleen in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert Turner and Terry Turner.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Eden Acres for the care and support given to Kathleen throughout the last four years.

Memorials can be directed to St Patrick Catholic Church and the Perry Public Library and may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
