Lila G. Friemel, 90, of Perry, IA passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Perry Lutheran Home Kings Garden Campus. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Perry Lutheran Home at 1:30 p.m. Burial of the cremains will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery. Lila Glee Friemel was born September 23, 1931 on the family farm in rural Rippey, IA, the daughter of George B. and Hazel Mae (Wise) Ackerman. She attended elementary in Dawson, IA and graduated from Jamaica High School in 1948. Lila played basketball, softball, piano and the saxophone. She also enjoyed riding horses, roller skating, gardening, dancing, playing cards, reading, gambling, and watching college basketball, especially the Iowa State Cyclones. Lila attended both churches in Bouton, where she taught Bible and Sunday School. She was a church superintendent, also for a time. Lila married Robert Hansen on April 12, 1953 and later married Paul Friemel on December 8, 1979. A lifelong area resident, she lived in the Dawson, Rippey, Jamaica, and Bouton rural communities before moving to Perry. She has resided at the Perry Lutheran Home Kings Garden Campus for the past three years. Lila is survived by her son, James “Jim” Hansen of Perry, IA; two grandchildren, Scott Hansen (Laura Henderson) of Bouton, IA, and Andi Dalton (Zach) of Woodward, IA; four great- grandchildren; cousin, Bonnie Sutter of Manson, IA and cousins, Doug Sutter (Patty), Angie Irvin (Scott) and Kathy Walker (Bob). She was preceded by her parents and both husbands. Memorials and condolences, to the family, may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home.
