Obituary For Paul Gene Daniels

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Murdock Funeral Home for Paul Daniels. Burial will be at a later date in Violet Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Paul passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Lutheran Homes Eden Acres at the age of 95. Paul Gene Daniels was born December 24, 1924 in Perry, Iowa, the son of Bert J. and Hazel A. (Fagen) Daniels. A lifelong resident of the Perry area, he attended school at Washington Township and graduated with the class of 1942. Paul served his country from August 1944 until his Honorable Discharge in June of 1946 from the United States Navy. He married Geraldine Maxine Kever on September 8, 1949 in Perry, Iowa. Geraldine passed away on August 19, 2019, three weeks short of what would have been their seventieth wedding Anniversary. Paul worked most of his working life at Delavan Manufacturing in West Des Moines, IA. He also worked for ten years at Oscar Mayer in Perry. In his spare time he loved to do woodworking and reading biographies of journalist and famous people. He has spent the past two years at Eden Acres. Paul was a member of the Perry Legion Post and the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his son, Lynn (Dixie) Daniels of Perry, IA; daughters, Nancy (Joe) Holland of Iowa City, IA, Lori (Randy) Naylor of Red Wing, MN; one sister Alberta Smith of Perry, IA; seven grandchildren, Kim Meyers, Courtney Daniels, Robyn Naylor, Chelsea Kutschied, Tyler Holland, Emily Holland, Clare Holland and six great grandchildren. Preceding Paul in death were his parents, wife, one sister Wilma Waters and one brother Earl Daniels. Memorials in Paul’s name will be directed to Every Step Hospice. They may be mailed or brought to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
