Obituary For Sarah Jane Gittins

Memorial service for Sarah Gittins, 83, of Perry, Iowa will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Perry. Pastor Andrea Brownlee will officiate. Pianist will be Donna Emmert and musical selections will be “ What a Friend We Have In Jesus” and “ In the Garden”. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Hilsenbeck, Steve Hilsenbeck, Michael Gittins, Josh Gittins, Joe Gittins, Erin Hodgson, Emily Gittins, Ally Craig, Jessica Romero and Lydia Gittins. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Sarah passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Dallas County Hospital.

Sarah Jane Yetter was born May 3, 1934 the daughter of George Stephen and Blanche A. (Boyd) Yetter in Dallas Center, Iowa. She graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1951. Sarah married Robert Wayne “Bob” Gittins June 17, 1951 at the First Christian Church of which she is a member. Sarah has lived for 65 years of her life on the same farm west of Perry raising four children, hundreds of head of cattle and many acres of row crops with her husband until his death on December 28, 2015.

Sarah is survived by her three sons Bob (Margaret) Gittins of Perry, IA, Rod (Penny) Gittins of Perry, IA, John (Jeanne) Gittins of Waukee, IA; one daughter Jane (Chuck) Hilsenbeck of Perry, IA; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son Randy in infancy, one brother George I. Yetter, three step brothers and one step sister.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or Perry Food Pantry in Sarah’s name. They may be sent or left at Murdock Funeral Home.
