Obituary For Shirley Marie Steadman

Funeral services for Shirley Steadman, 82 of Rippey, IA will be held at Crossroads Church of Perry at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4,2023. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Shirley passed away Wednesday, November 29,2023 at Unity Point in Des Moines, IA.

Shirley Marie Brown was born April 17,1941 in Jefferson City, MO the daughter of Orville L. Brown Sr. and Evelyn Irene (Neiderhauser) Brown. Shirley moved to Booneville, IA in 1949 and then to Perry, IA in 1951. She attended Perry Community schools.

Shirley met Richard Lee Steadman Sr. in 1957 and the two were united in marriage on July 20,1958 in Granger, IA. They lived in Perry for many years during their working life and while raising their three children. After retirement they moved to Rippey.

Shirley worked at the Perry Cafe, Mrs. Grimes Canning, Asgrow, and finished her working career at the Alco Store. Shirley loved spending time with her family, playing cards, bingo and an occasional trip to the casino.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Patricia, at childbirth, and sisters, Sharon Steadman, Beverly Devilbiss and one brother, Orville Brown Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard L. Steadman Sr .of Rippey; three children, Debra (Dan) Sheeder of Perry; Susan (James) Powell of Perry; Richard (Zenita) Steadman Jr. of Perry; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Val) Sheeder of Boone, Ashley (Patrick) Taylor of Pleasant Hill, Brittany (Tyler) Hansen of Bondurant, Bradley (Erika) Sheeder of Colfax, Mackenzie (Colton) Phillips of Perry, Cory (Olivia) Steadman of Ankeny, Courtney (Rigo) Gonzalez of Altoona, Logan (Caitlyn) Steadman of Perry; fifteen great grandchildren, Nicholas Taylor, Kylie Phillips, Kaitlyn Taylor, Brant Sheeder, Cael Hansen, Lucy Sheeder, Greyson Sheeder, Lexi Phillips, Addyson Hansen, Daniel Sheeder, Enslie Sheeder, Corbin Phillips, Weston Phillips, Carson Steadman and Gunner Steadman; five sisters, Lola (John) Farley of Casey, Doris Westphal of Des Moines, Betty (Steve) Bebout of Woodward, Linda (Scott Westering) Birch of Carroll, Rosalie Lemke of West Des Moines and one brother, Robert Brown of Perry; many nieces, nephews and close friends.

    Shirley was a special lady when I was younger I worked at alco Shirley showed me the ropes of working in clothing we would laugh and have fun the best part was eating lunch at Puccis Shirley loved the taco salads. I will cherish all the memories I've encountered with Shirley I will miss u so much she always knew how to make a person laugh if they were down and she loved everyone
